Après des débuts remarqués avec "Scars"
(cd 6 titres autoproduit désormais presque épuisé)
et le 45 tours "Tarnished Angels"’, CALL ME LORETTA a
délaissé le home recording et s’est rendu au réputé
studio Amanita afin d’obtenir un son subtil à la fois brut
et contenu, proche et fuyant que réclamaient ses titres mélancoliques
empreints de violence réprimée.
Le résultat, intitulé "Crosswind", regorge de
mélodies tourmentées soumises à d’enivrantes
variations d’intensité, portées par une voix troublante
et des textes introspectifs, créant un univers sombre et singulier,
foisonnant d’émotions illustrées par les énigmatiques
dessins de Fred.
Né à Toulouse de la rencontre de Stéphanie (chant,
guitare) et de Sébastien (guitare, chant), CALL ME LORETTA se forme
fin 2000 avec l’arrivée de Delphine (basse) et Matthieu (batterie).
Le groupe continue depuis lors sa route entre Toulouse et Paris, aguerri
par de nombreux concerts. Tenant d’une noisy-pop mélancolique
et nerveuse, le groupe a progressivement élargi son répertoire
avec des compositions plus audacieuses dotées de structures plus
libres alliant crescendos tendus, arpèges délicats et saturations
rageuses. "Crosswind", premier album au titre évocateur,
est le produit d’un parcours personnel qui a depuis le début
privilégié l’émotion et qui va se poursuivre
avec la récente arrivée de Philippe à la batterie.

CALL ME LORETTA
CALL ME LORETTA is an up-and-coming band from Toulouse, France. The group first started when Stéphanie (vocals, guitar) and Sébastien (guitar, vocals) began to play together. They were joined late 2000 by Delphine (bass) and Matthieu (drums). Since then, they have been carrying on between Toulouse and Paris, gaining experience from numerous live performances. CALL ME LORETTA has gradually expanded its repertoire of original songs in which melodies are submitted to emotional peaks and valleys, alternating for example between tense crescendos, delicate arpeggios and fierce distortions.
After having garnered critical praise for "Scars" (debut self-released mini-lp almost sold out now) and for the "Tarnished Angels" 7", CALL ME LORETTA forsook home-recording and went to the renowned French studio Amanita to get a sound at once urgent and restrained, close and distant that their melancholy songs required. The result entitled "Crosswind" teems with tormented melodies and conveys the pervasive theme of repressed violence. This first full-length, illustrated by Fred's cryptic drawings, is also manned by an endearing voice and introspective lyrics that greatly participate to create a dark, idiosyncratic universe abounding in emotions.
As its evocative title suggests it, "Crosswind" is the outcome of a singular path that has always favoured emotion, a path that is to be continued taking into account the arrival of new drummer Philippe.

Despues de un famoso inicio gracias a "SCARS" (un cd de 6 titulos
que no se encuentra mas a la vente) y "Tarnished Angels", CALL
ME LORETTA dejo el home recording para grabar al famoso estudio Amanita
para producir un sonido subtil tan simple que contenido, cerca et alejado
que necesitaban los titulos melancolicos con violencia reprimida.
El resulto, "Crosswind", es lleno de titulos tormentados con
pasos sobremarcha, acompanados de una voz melancolica y de liricas introspectivas.
El ambiente es sombre y raro, y los dibujos de Fred anaden a este universo
de emocion.
Nacido en Toulouse en 1997 del encuentro de Stéphanie (guitarra,
cante) y de Sébastien (guitarra), CALL ME LORETTA toma su forma
definitiva con la llegada, dos años más tarde de Delphine
(bajo) y Philippe (batería).
Con una música cerca de la "noisy pop aproximativa",
componen un rock melancólico y nervioso, llevado por una voz emocionante,
que alterna pasajes sónicos y melodías intimistas.
Los numerosos conciertos dados en la región, así como la
primera parte en la escena del Nouveau Casino de París, han avezado
los miembros del grupo, que han ganado más soltura y eficacia.
Su repertorio se ha ensanchado progresivamente con composiciones más
audazes y libres, donde las melodías están sometidas a largas
variaciones de intensidad que alternan arpegios delicados con fuertes
saturaciones.
